Veins and arteries always remind me of spider webs, but less ordered - to the eye. A spider is fluent in geometry and calculations - skills needed to catch prey, but the emotional human heart tends to be as winding and messy as its physical form. Getting caught in a Heart's web isn't exactly fatal, but it can be impossible to extract yourself from (see why I usually quote poets? My words are far less pretty. I hope you know what I'm getting at here.) I was thinking of my husband when I made this (i have no desire to extract myself from that web) and Valentine's Day. If I could get him to wear more jewelry, this would be his Valentine.
This pendant was constructed out of hand pierced and layered, heavy gauge sterling silver and bronze that has been hand textured and oxidized. It measures 3 cm round and 3mm in thickness. It's strung from a 20" sterling silver rolo chain.
