Stone Sparrow Design is owned and operated by me, Marina Eliasi. Each component of my wearable art is lovingly crafted by hand in my home studio. I embarked on my interest in metal smithing while attending Massachusetts College of Art, Boston studying for my undergraduate degree. A small metals class was an offered elective my Sophomore year there (over 20 years ago!) and I learned basic techniques such as cold forming, soldering, piercing and sawing. I made my first piece of silver jewelry in class (a really modern looking layered bolo tie) and a copper box which currently holds roses from my wedding. I made odd metal things after the class finished - abstract formed buildings for my Architecture major and little sawed pendants here and there, but I didn't make this my career until years later and after taking a few more classes to refine my skills. In addition to being a metal smith, I am also the mother of two beautiful girls, two dogs and a bunny and wife to an amazing husband. From time to time, I will write a blog post on here that might include shop updates or just thoughts about things. I also irregularly issue newsletters to my subscribers (you can subscribe at checkout ;) - the newsletters will frequently give a little head start for shop updates or offer something not available elsewhere.) All of the jewelry on Stone Sparrow Design is made by hand or is a sourced antique item. Please remove your jewelry before engaging in wet (bathing, doing the dishes, etc.) or sweaty activity as the moisture can damage the stones and remove the patina or gold plating (if present). Please be aware that while the patinas have been protected with wax, no patina is permanent and will change with time. Never spray perfumes on your handmade jewelry and be aware that creams, oils or moisturizers can remove patina, plating or etch the metals with repeated exposure. Never clean your SSD jewelry with commercial jewelry cleaners or other abrasives as these will damage the stones and remove the patina. Simply wipe with a tarnish cloth, like the Sunsheen cloth that is included with your order, to brighten dulled areas or wash with mild soap and water, if very dirty. Please be aware that natural stones will change over time - especially soft stones like turquoise. Returns will absolutely not be taken if an item has been destroyed due to customer neglect. Please pay particular attention to the disclaimer when purchasing Sparrow's talon rings, found in the item descriptions.

***Made to Order items***

Made to order items are offered in limited runs only. There are no refunds on made to order or made to size pieces. Please be aware that a made to order item will look as similar to the original as possible, but due to the hand fabricated nature of each component, no two pieces will be exactly the same.  Please allow up to 8 weeks for the fabrication of your made to order item - this time allowance depends on the volume of orders placed - orders will be completed in the order they are placed. If more than one item is ordered with a made to order item, the entire order will ship when it is completed. If you wish your ready to ship items to ship sooner, please purchase ready to ship and made to order items separately. ***If you feel that you cannot wait the requested time for the fabrication of your item, please reserve your purchases for ready to ship items. I am unable to rush any made to order or custom made piece.***

SSD reserves the right to cancel made to order items for any reason with a full refund to the purchaser.


Amended layaway policy effective 8/15/2018:

Payment plans are considered on a case by case basis for all items over $200.00. SSD reserves the right to refuse a layaway agreement if a previous layaway term has not been fulfilled by the same customer. All payment plans will now be made through PayPal invoicing. You don't have to have a PayPal account to receive a PayPal invoice. Payments for layaway items will be evenly split into 3, all 3 invoices sent at initiation ~ the initial payment being required to remove the item from the website. Payments are expected to be paid monthly. For example, if you enter into a payment agreement on 8/1, subsequent payments will be expected on or before 9/1 and 10/1 with the customer requested shipping method added into the final payment. The initial payment must be received within 24 hours of initiation or it will be canceled. Payments later than a period of 2 weeks will be considered abandoned and the item will be relisted for sale. No payments on layaway items are refundable. Please be aware of this and of your financial situation prior to engaging in a payment plan. Please note: in the case of layaway on a made to order item: your item will not be made until the final payment has been paid. Please be sure you understand all terms prior to requesting a payment plan. 

All major credit cards are accepted at checkout as well as Paypal.

***RESERVED items***

I will no longer accept reserves on any item to be fair to all customers. Please respect this policy.


Occasionally Stone Sparrow Design will offer a promotion or giveaway. These will be announced on Instagram @stonesparrow.  Offers will not be extended beyond the term announced. All terms and conditions will be announced at the time of the offer. Only the item offered during said giveaway or promotion will be given to the winner. Please don't ask for alternative items. Giveaway items will be produced and sent to the recipients within a period of up to one year after the winner is announced. Please be patient.

***Returns / services / repairs***

If for some reason, you are completely unhappy with your purchase, please email me so we can discuss, but going forward - NO RETURNS / REFUNDS / EXCHANGES will be granted in cases of buyer's remorse.  In the rare case that an item is received defective by the customer, a full return will be issued or a repair / replacement will be issued, however, you must contact me by email (no Facebook messages, Instagram messages or any other method of communication will be accepted) to marina@stonesparrowdesign.com immediately upon discovering the defect in the item - no more than 7 days after receiving the box in the mail. I am human and things can pass by me, but I take great care to deliver your jewelry and art as well made as I am able and photograph each item from all angles for viewing prior to purchasing. Please be aware that all jewelry and art is handmade and should be treated with care. Absolutely no returns, exchanges or refunds will be accepted if an item is broken due to neglect or mistreatment of an item. Particularly in the case of my wearable art series pieces, alternative art pieces or signature Sparrow's talon rings - take extreme care of these pieces. Many of my rings are made in very long, statement sizes that could easily break if banged or dropped. I cannot repair a stone if it is broken by the customer or the post office. Wearable art pieces are solidly made but should be treated as art. They are constructed in ways that make them as unique as possible and are not intended for daily, vigorous wear. All repairs will incur a service fee of $35 / hour to repair, plus return shipping. Please be sure to read all listings carefully prior to purchasing - some have different care instructions than others depending on what the item is and how it's made. Returns / exchanges will not be accepted for customer sizing errors or misunderstanding due to not reading the listing information (I know certain items are very popular and sell out quickly, but please save yourself confusion and me frustration by reading the listing before you buy it - all information about the item is included in the listing). Please know your ring and wrist sizes before ordering. Returns must be made fully insured and repackaged as they were sent. If the original packaging is lost, an additional $12 repackaging fee will be assessed. I cannot be held responsible for loss or damage during shipping or for careless packaging. Double boxing items helps insure they arrive safely. All shipping charges are the responsibility of the customer. I do offer insured shipping options.


Please be aware that I order shipping labels in batches to be as time efficient as I possibly can be. Your tracking number will take from 1 - 5 business days to update as shipped by the carrier once sent via email. The time it takes to prepare each item for shipping varies. If you need your item quickly, please contact me PRIOR to ordering to see if it is possible. Thank you!

Domestic shipping choices are as follows:


USPS 2 - 3 day Priority shipping which includes tracking, $50 insurance and signature confirmation for $12. Please keep in mind - i ship priority to limit the amount of time your package is jostles around by the post office - you order will not arive 2 days after ordering it in most cases.

USPS 2 - 3 day Priority shipping with tracking, insurance for the full purchase amount up to $450 and signature confirmation for  $25. (if your purchase is over $450 and you would like insurance, I will get exact rates from the PO for your approval and send PayPal invoices for the balance, plus PayPal fees.) 


USPS international shipping $15 ***no insurance or signature delivery is available for shipments to International locations, including CA without contacting me first for shipping quotes***

US only:

UPS Ground with tracking and signature confirmation for $25. If insurance is desired, please request a shipping quote at the time of purchase.

***Please be aware that at this time, these are the only shipping options available. Alternative products may be available on USPS.com or on UPS.com, but know that these options are not available at all shipping locations. 


International orders - a flat rate of $25 is added to all International orders (excluding Canada - see above) which only covers the USPS charge and tracking within the US. Shipping internationally typically takes 10 - 45 days from shipping to arrive depending on the destination and customs delays. Any and all customs fees imposed are the responsibility of the purchaser. I cannot be held responsible for damage, theft or delays in customs. I will not mark your order a gift or improperly alter the customs forms in any way, so please don't ask. If I find that I cannot ship to your country, I will promptly refund your purchase. Expedited shipping is not possible for international orders. If you would like your international shipment to be insured, please contact me prior to ordering. Insured International shipping fees vary by destination and the cost of the items purchased.

****I highly recommend the insured options. I am offering choices to avoid shipping mishaps once the packages leave my hands. I cannot be held responsible for delays, losses or damage that may occur in the mail. Your ready to ship order will be shipped 3 - 5 business days after purchase regardless of which shipping option is chosen.****

***HOLIDAY SHIPPING: there are always delays around the holidays that are beyond my control. Please prepare accordingly. My shop will close for a 10 day period prior to Christmas to help avoid shipping mishaps. Thank you for your understanding.

Any overages on shipping charges will be used to go toward packaging costs. I will happily combine multiple purchases and refund multiple shipping charges.

Each order will be pleasantly packaged for gift giving with the current, on hand selection of supplies. 


Customer fraud will not be tolerated. Credit card fraud will be reported to and investigated by your financial institution.
