My depiction of the story of Adam and Eve and their temptation and submission. I use skeletons or bones in my work becuase beneath the skin, it’s very difficult to tell male from female apart - I mean - unless you really know the subtle veriances in bone structure. Here, it’s impossible to tell Adam from Eve, and i have them sharing the responsibility of accepting the gift of the apple from the tree of Knowledge from the snake. I’ll leave the rest up to your own intrepretation. As I’ve mentioned previously, I make my things with the understanding that only one person will get to have it. I hope this one speaks strongly to one of you.

This piece was very lovingly created out of many, many layers of fine and sterling silver. The snake was covered in a fine layer of solid 24K gold using the Keum Boo method to fuse the metals together. The opal is a very fine quality Ethiopian Opal - I’ve done my best to capture it’s magic, but it’s something very special to see with the eye. The opal is encased in a 14K gold bezel setting, suspended from 14K gold chain. There is a very fine sterling silver wire strung through the snake’s mouth and around a small section of the back to ensure the opal is securely suspended. The chain is a sourced antique silver chain with as close to snake skin print I could ever have hoped for, applied using Niello. It measures 14” from end to end (chain only). The swivel clasp is also antique and fully functional, but I recommend putting it on and off using the hand made 14K gold hook on the other side - it’s just a simpler mechanism. It hangs just about as a 20” - 22” chain would, depending on the point of measurement. The pictorial part of the necklace measures about 4.5” wide by 5” deep. It’s suspended from 14” heavy, but well balanced and comfortable. Please take a look through all of the photos to see all of the detail put into this wearable piece of art.
