Christina Maria Duarte was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1987 where her love of art-making started at a young age. She achieved a Fine Art Painting/2D Studies B.A. at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and went on to obtain a Post-Baccalaureate at the same college immediately following. Soon after, she was accepted into the New York Academy of Art Graduate Program and began practicing and studying in New York City until she graduated with her M.F.A. in 2013.
Christina’s work began with strict observational studies, first focusing on still life then portraiture. She continues to create oil portraits in her studio in Pennsylvania, deriving inspiration from loved ones and their stories.
Christina has exhibited her work across the United States and has work held in private collections from coast to coast.
