Kevin Sparkowich (b. 1997) is an American artist with a predominant focus in oil paint. He began painting while serving in the US Marine Corps, after years of experimenting in other mediums. While resisting an adherence to any one subject, he aspires to blur the lines between the conceptual and the perceptual, giving equal emphasis to what is felt or imagined as what is seen. His paintings, while faithfully representational, rely heavily on bold textures and allusions, giving the viewer an active role by inviting them to fill the chasms. Innovating the methods of the 20th century virtuoso painters, Sparkowich is committed to pushing the boundaries of his genre while remaining true to many of the histories and fundamentals of his medium. By bridging these gaps—between representation and abstraction, between traditional materiality and modern technologies—his interpretation of the world around him becomes “better-balanced and more nuanced,” and it is his effort to extend that experience beyond himself.

Sparkowich has work featured in a number of private collections in North America and the Middle East, and gives painting instruction around the world.

Sparkowich currently studies and resides in New York City.
